  • Google Pay lets Barclays customers use eligible Android devices to pay at U.S. merchant locations that accept Mastercard and Visa cards. With Google Pay, you can pay in-store with your device by hovering over card readers where you would traditionally swipe your card.
  • Google Pay is available on all Barclays-branded and most partner-branded MasterCard and Visa cards. (Not available with Sears Card).
  • An eligible Barclays-issued MasterCard or Visa card.
  • A Google Account
  • A compatible Android device. Visit the Google Pay webpage for the most up-to-date list of compatible devices and requirements.
  • Choose the Google Pay icon on your phone and log in using your Google account information.
  • Once logged in, touch "Add Card" in the Google Pay app to begin the process of adding your card. Center the card in the on-screen window and Google Pay will read the card number. Or you can enter the card number manually. Verify or enter the additional information such as Cardholder Name, Expiration Date and Security Code (CVV).
  • Read and accept the Terms and Conditions for adding a card to a digital wallet by touching AGREE TO ALL.
  • You may be prompted to select a delivery method for receiving a One Time Passcode, such as SMS or EMAIL or CALL IN. The One Time Passcode will be delivered to the destination selected. Enter the code received and touch SUBMIT. Once complete, your card is ready for use in Google Pay.
  1. To use Google Pay for purchases, you must first add your eligible Barclaycard or Barclays credit card to the Google Pay app.
  2. When you are ready to pay, unlock your phone and hover the back of your device over the card reader where you'd usually swipe your physical card, or tap to complete the transaction. The card reader or cashier will tell you when your purchase is complete.
  3. Please note you may select Google Pay as your default wallet on your smartphone. Settings vary by device manufacturer and model, so if you need help setting Google Pay as the default option for making mobile payments, please contact your mobile service provider.
  1. Open the Google Pay app.
  2. Tap the card you want to make your default card.
  3. Tap Set as default card.
  • Your credit card number is never stored in Google Pay. When you add your card to Google Pay, it is assigned a device account number, and when you make a purchase, Google Pay uses a device-specific number and unique transaction code. So your card number is never stored on your device or on Android's servers, and when you pay, your actual card number is never shared with merchants.
  • If you ever need to make a return, you might have to provide the last 4 digits of your device account number. You can find your device account number on the card details screen in your Google Pay app.
  • With Google Pay, each transaction is covered by your card's existing fraud protection. In addition, you must unlock you phone using your PIN before making a payment.
  • Google Pay does not store your personal/payment information on Google's servers or on your device. Also, your full details are never shared with merchants when you make a purchase. They see your device account number instead.
  • If your phone is lost or stolen, you can lock your phone and suspend Google Pay by using the Android Device Manager. You can also call Barclays, and we'll assist you with suspending the cards in Google Pay, allowing you to continue to use your plastic cards.
  • You can also contact the Customer Service number on the back of your card to delete Barclaycards in the device.
  • When you suspend or remove your cards from Google Pay, only your device-specific account number is suspended or removed, and you can continue to use your plastic cards as usual, as long as you haven't deactivated them.
  • To return something you bought in-store with Google Pay you will need your store receipt, just like you would for any other purchase. If the merchant asks you to swipe your card, simply wake and unlock your device and hold the back to the contactless payment terminal.
  • For some returns, you might have to provide the last 4 digits of your device account number. You can find your device account number on the card details screen in your Google Pay app.
